| Article I. Name |
|
The name of this organization shall be the Texas A&M Student Society of Arboriculture also known as the Texas A&M SSA and TAMSSA. |

| Article II. Purpose & Goals |
| Section 1. Purpose |
|
- This organization shall be a non-profit, educational, literary and charitable association in the support of Arboricultural Sciences and Urban Forestry. This organization will not be affiliated with any commercial enterprise.
|
| Section 2. Goals |
|
- To expand the capacity of the International Society of Arboriculture by disseminating Arboricultural and Urban Forestry information to individuals and groups in the community and on campus.
- To develop and enhance campus and community programs related to Arboriculture and Urban Forestry.
- To develop training in the tools and techniques of Arboriculture and Urban Forestry.

| Article III. Membership |
|
Membership in the Texas A&M Student Society of Arboriculture is open to all students and faculty of Texas A&M University, regardless of socioeconomic level, ethnicity, sex or religion. |
| Section 1. Eligibility |
|
- A Member must have paid the membership dues for the current period in which membership is desired to maintain current membership status.
- All members must be concurrent student members of the National Arborist Association, and the International Society of Arboriculture.

| Article IV. Meetings |
|
This Organization shall conduct its business at scheduled meetings as outlined in the Bylaws. |

| Article V. Officers |
|
No officer of the Texas A&M Student Society of Arboriculture or member of the Executive Committee shall receive any compensation for services of the organization. |
| Section 1. Eligibility |
|
Student Organization Leader - Elected Treasurer - Appointed Project Leaders - Appointed |
| Section 2. Executive Committee |
|
The Executive Committee shall consist of the Student Organization Leader, Treasurer and Advisors. |
| Section 3. Officer Requirements |
|
The officers of this organization must meet the following requirements: |
|
- Have a minimum grade point ratio (GPR) as stated below and meet that minimum GPR in the semester immediately prior to the election/appointment, the semester of election/appointment and semesters during the term of office.
- For undergraduate students, the minimum GPR is 2.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least six hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration. In one limited circumstance, summer semester hours may be applied to this provision. In order for summer coursework to qualify toward a grade point ratio prior to election/appointment, at least six credit hours must have been taken during the course of either the full or two-summer session(s).
- For graduate level students, the minimum GPR is 3.00. In order for this provision to be met, at least four hours (half-time credits) must have been taken for the semester under consideration. In one limited circumstance, summer semester hours may be applied to this provision. In order for summer coursework to qualify toward a grade point ratio prior to election/appointment, at least four credit hours must have been taken during the course of either the full or two summer session(s) unless fewer credits are required as they complete the final stages of their degree.
- Be in good standing with the university and enrolled:
- at least half time (six or more credit hours), if an undergraduate student (unless fewer credit hours are required to graduate in the spring and fall semesters) during the term of office, and;
- at least half time (four or more credit hours), if a graduate level student (unless fewer credit hours are required in the final stages of their degree as defined by the Continuous Registration Requirement) during their term of office.
- Be ineligible to hold an office should the student fail to maintain the requirements as prescribed in A. and B.
- Be a dues paying member in good standing with the Texas A&M SSA.

| Section 4. Selection, Election, and Terms of Office |
|
- Candidates shall be selected by nomination prior to or during the general meeting held in January.
- Officers shall be elected by a simple majority of a quorum from the membership. Twenty (20) percent of membership shall represent a quorum. Voting shall be cast by secret ballot at the January general meeting. Elected officers shall be installed at the April meeting and assume their duties prior to the next general meeting.
- An Officer shall serve a one-year term, at the end of which, that officer may be reelected to office.

| Article VI. Finances |
| Section 1. Fiscal Year/Membership Dues |
|
- The fiscal year of this organization shall run from January 1 to December 31 of each year.
- Membership dues shall be determined per academic year and will be collected from all members of this organization as outlined in the Bylaws of this organization.

| Section 2. Banking |
|
- All monies belonging to this organization shall be deposited and disbursed through a bank account established for this organization at the Student Organization Finance Center and/or the Fiscal Office. All funds must be deposited within 24 hours after collection. The advisor to this organization must approve and sign each expenditure before payment.
|
| Article VII. Advisors |
|
This organization shall have a Primary Advisor as outlined in the Bylaws of the Constitution. |
|
| Section 1. Amendment Process |
|
- Proposed changes to the Constitution shall be taken under consideration and voted on by the Executive Committee, requiring a simple majority for acceptance.
- The Constitution may then be amended with the accepted changes by the Student Organization Leader and presented to the membership for ratification.
|
| Section 2. Ratification Process |
|
- The amended Constitution shall be made available to the membership for review prior to any voting of the membership for ratification.
- Ratification of the Constitution shall require a 2/3 vote by the membership for adoption.
- Following ratification a copy of the updated Constitution shall be promptly submitted to the Department of Student Activities.
